演講摘要：

自1980年代美國航空業解禁後，航空公司利用收益管理的技巧成功擊退了來自廉價航空的競爭，因此，收益管理成為航空公司、飯店業及租車業首選的訂價思維，進入電子商務世代後，收益管理的思維及應用更如雨後春筍般出現。本次分享將介紹收益管理的起源及相關應用，並藉由近年來收益管理及動態訂價的使用來探討其未來的應用與發展。 Revenue management dates back to the deregulation of the airline industry and airline companies such as American Airlines adopted revenue management when facing the competition from budget airlines and the trend gradually moved to the other industries such as hotel and car rental. E-commerce age leads more applications of revenue management as it is easier to change the price on the internet. The talk shares the history, related applications and future developments of revenue management.

演講摘要：

This talk discusses how data-driven intelligent decision processes can help improve operational efficiency in production and service systems. In practice and in literature, when uncertainties are concerned, state-depend dynamic decisions are known to be crucial operation efficiency. However, most existing methods assume a stationary system and uncertainties are well characterized by given distribution functions. Yet, both assumptions are hardly true and it is unclear how dynamic control can be realized in the production environment. In this talk, we combine machines learning and stochastic dynamic optimization methods to overcome both challenges. Through several industrial examples, the potential of data-driven intelligent decisions is demonstrated.

講    題：使用機器學習演算法建構預測存活以及費用模型-以冠狀動脈繞道手術病患為例

(Using Machine Learning Algorithm in Predicting Mortality and Medical Expenditures of CABG Patients in Taiwan)

演講摘要：

冠狀動脈繞道手術（CABG）對冠狀動脈疾病（CAD）患者是一重要的治療方法。在一些相關研究中，潛在疾病和合併症會影響死亡率和再入院率，這些問題將直接增加醫療費用。但是目前沒有研究找出會影響不同存活年限的重要變數以及手術出院後一年醫療費用的危險因子。 本研究使用國家健康保險研究數據庫（NHIRD），健保資料庫是全台灣最大且最完整的資料庫，包含各種醫學信息、病患的門診、住院資訊。研究中選擇首次接受CABG手術的患者，並使用不同的機器學習演算法(LGR, LR, CART, MARS, RF, SVR, XGBoost )透過特徵選取，找出影響存活以及費用的相關危險因子，再進行預測以及評估。研究結果顯示透過特徵篩選有助於提高模型預測率、準確性且可以利用較少的危險因子進行預測。CABG患者共病患有腎臟疾病是影響存活的關鍵因子且腎臟疾病的病患醫療費用較高; 術前一年醫療費用、當次手術費用以及洗腎的次數是預測術後一年費用的關鍵因子。本研究可以幫助政府制定良好的醫療政策，並可以朝著準確的預防性醫療、降低醫療總費用，及更有效的醫療管理的方向發展。

In a competitive environment,  determining  when  to  enter  the  market  and  what  homing  policies should  be adopted  are  crucial  strategic  decisions  for  platform-based  businesses.  In  this study,  we investigate  the  interactions between two platforms competing in two-sided markets with cross-sided network effects and determine their prices under different entry and homing strategies. We derive the equilibrium demands of two-sided markets for platforms and the equilibrium prices for two competing platforms. We further conduct a comparative analysis among scenarios with different combinations of homing and entry strategies.
