演講摘要：

The detection of defective beans is a labor-intensive process in the coffee industry. Operators who sit in a row pick the defect manually. The procedure is tedious but crucial to assure the quality of the raw beans. However, Operators’ performance usually degrades over time. Our research team is currently developing a smart coffee bean selector which aims at employing artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to discriminate the normal and defective beans. It is expected to provide a supplementary tool which can help operators improve or maintain their performance level. Different deep learning models are built and evaluated to augment data, to extract features, and finally to detect the defect. The talk will also share the idea and some experiences on building such a prototype system.
